Honorees
Caryn M. Green has been a fixture in the Central Florida legal community since 1996. She is a Martindale-Hubbell A.V. Preeminent rated attorney, a Florida Bar Board Certified Family Law attorney and a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Caryn was a founding member of the Orange County Family Law Inns of Court and has served on the Executive Council of the Florida Bar Family Law Section and has been ta member of the Legislative and Board Certification Sub Committees.
Douglas W. Neway received a B.F.A. Degree in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College and his Juris Doctor from Nova University School of Law. He has had a varied career as an actor, talent agent, entertainment lawyer, corporate counsel and managing partner of a large consumer bankruptcy firm with offices throughout the southeast. He was appointed Chapter 13 Standing Trustee in Jacksonville in 2007 and continues in that role today. Doug is a frequent lecturer on consumer bankruptcy topics at seminars, colleges and law schools and sits on various local, statewide and national bankruptcy committees.
Caryn and Doug have two daughters, Taylor, age 14 and Ella, age 12. They are the joys of their lives and a constant source of happiness, frustration, pride, drama, laughter and love. Taylor was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 2 years old and jumpstarted Caryn and Doug’s unwavering commitment to JDRF’s fundraising efforts to find a cure. Caryn started the JDRF Gala 10 years ago and enlisted the help of the best friends in the world to make it the success that it is today. She also sits on the JDRF Board of Directors for the Central Florida Chapter. Doug has been involved behind the scenes making fundraising videos and, like all husbands of impressively strong and driven women, doing whatever he is told to do by Caryn. In the last five years, Caryn and Doug have gotten involved with the JDRF One Walk and for the past three years, their walk teams have been among the top three fundraising teams.
Each year since Taylor’s diagnosis, the advancements made in finding a cure, as well as innovations in diabetes care have been remarkable and have provided greater hope of seeing a world without Type 1 in the near future. The donations raised this year may very well be the ones that provide the next great scientific discovery in the battle against this disease.
Please plan to attend the 10th Annual Imagine Gala to celebrate this year’s honorees and help make a difference in eradicating Type 1 diabetes!
